ASSESSMENT 3: CURATED PICTURES

100 WORD STATEMENT:

Sustainable design minimizes the negative environmental impacts in all three pillars. Passive design takes advantage of the environment to maximise comfortability, and in turn relates to biomimicry through its response to nature. My design is passive and focuses on materiality and construction to minimise its ecological footprint. It uses glass throughout most of the model rather than solid walls to allow circulation and natural light to fill the space. The other materials are all recycled and can be repurposed. I accomplished my objectives of remaining passive in my model my implementing all the design principles and using biomimicry for my butterfly roof. Overall it was successful because all the strengths of the previous models were implemented. This model ultimately remains passive in design and functionality through its material and construction decisions.

CAPTION: PASSIVE DESIGN OF BUTTERFLY ROOF

EXPERIMENTS

EXPERIMENTS CONDUCTED TO SEE WHAT SHADOWS, LIGHT, OPAQUE MATERIALS, AND FOLD WOULD DO TO MODELS.

BALSA WOOD MODEL 5 @ 1:10 SCALE

This is my final model development, I integrated all my experiments from wk5-8 and have focused on making this what an ideal room should implement, this is a finished model of a house that has demonstrated the use of line, symmetry, reputation, diffused light, shadow, and the atmosphere it creates from this. I have made this model at a 1:50 scale, to integrate more detail and understanding of the space and the elements it encompasses.
